We at the Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot Foundation want to be more than an organization that provides funds to agencies to buy food for those who are hungry. We want to provide job training for those in need, like the old proverb says “give someone a fish they eat for a day, teach them to fish and they eat for a lifetime”. Our board of directors developed a three year strategic plan in 2015 to establish a job training program by 2019. We are two years ahead of schedule. This fall we will open “Café Liberty”, our culinary training program for Armed Forces veterans. The “Fighting Hunger Walk” is one of several new events organized by the DGTT Foundation to provide the necessary working capital to make “Café Liberty” a reality.
On Sunday, October 15th, from 10 am – 1 pm, join us in our mission as we come together for the 2nd Annual “Fighting Hunger Walk”.
We invite businesses, families and friends to create teams. Each team can be comprised of up to 10 people. We simply ask you to raise pledges based on the goal you set. There is no minimum pledge – you determine your pledge goal! To raise your pledges, we will provide each team an online fundraising page on the Hunger Walk website.
